Preparedness for the litter: supplies include oxygen, pedialite, Esbilac, feeding tubes, warming box, clean wash cloths (warmed), etc.
Weight checks performed every 12 hours 1st 3 weeks, then daily until 5 weeks.
The whelping box: we use a heating pad under bedding for puppies. The temperature is carefully monitored. The whelping box is located in a room kept at 75 and is in a quiet location in the home.
What to expect from us a breeder:
As a reuptable breeder, our dogs have all health clearances by OFA and
Cerf. We are members in good standing with the GRCA. While a Heart, Hip, Elbow and Eye clearances are the 'minimum' standard,
we assure normal Thyroid and PRA/PRCD cleared/normal.
We limit the number of litters produced
and offer a litter about every 18 months. Inquiries always welcome.
Our goal
is to provide each owner of a puppy through an AwreyGold breeding the confidence and best assurance to a healthy puppy with historical
genetic health clearances (multiple generations) has been achieved. While genetics play a key and vital role, we firmly
believe proper nutrition is essential. Over excessive growth as a puppy shows links to health problems later on for the dog.
As with humans, too many preservatives, diets too high in fats & carbohydrates, stress, chemicals, toxins, etc. have been
found to lead to issues with diabetes and cancer. We have worked with natural foods (Holistic type) and the addition of natural
enzymes with raw foods to the dogs diets. (Solid Gold and Honest Kitchen)

is our current breeding female. She is the 'daughter' of Annie and 'niece' of Duke. They represent our committment as breeders
and owners of quality Golden Retrievers which are working goldens as well as family members through sound, ethical breeding practices.
Duke is available to qualified females for stud services. We offer natural or AI through frozen, or fresh/chilled.
