   Brandi Awery CJ Timberline     "Brandi"
(CJ Tonka Honey Crandall x Am. CH. Timberline Daily News OS      dob 01-03-99)

Brandi came into our lives to fill a gap.  We had lost a dog 6 months before,  loved Golden Retrievers and then the movie "You've Got Mail" was playing.  We were hooked to find a Golden Retriever.  We knew the value of health clearances and began doing research of 'how to find a puppy' through AKC and other websites.  We visited breeders to examine their litters, their environment and ask the questions about the breeding.  We were confident in our decision and we had to wait until she was 7 1/2 weeks old.

Brandi became a part of all our lives -- our children (Brian and Kim) are very close to her.  She has a quiet disposition, easy going temperament and devoted to each one of us.

At about 4 months of age,  we took Brandi to an SBDA event.  I had wanted to look into agility and Kent was thinking a different avenue.  Brandi never shyed from the gunshot -- she was curious.  At this point,  I knew agility was out the door and we were headed down a different pathway.  Kent and Brandi became a team training on upland work with simple yard games.  She is an incredible upland bird hunter.  She is very methodical and persistent in her work.  We tried doing hunt tests (NAHRA) with Brandi.  The upland was never an issue;  her waterwork was her weakness.  (she didn't want to do that work)  Kent and I became committed to proving a Golden Retriever could be a reliable hunting  companion in all scenarios. Thus began our breeding program.

Brandi was essentially from 'show lines' and we knew by introducing the proper 'field/hunt' lines we could improve the breed.  Our choices in Washington were limited to Semper Retrievers for a qualified male that also had the health clearances. We bred Brandi on 2 occassions with Semper Deuce Cooper*** and the litters have successfully proven our goal and commitment to breeding.

At the age of 10,  Brandi suffered from a serious case of pancreatitis.  (we almost lost her)  Upon research,  we discovered the need to assure proper enzymes in the diet for digestion.  Enzymes are found in raw foods,  so we were excited to introduce Honest Kitchen.  Honest Kitchen offered the benefits of raw foods with ease for today in a dehydrated format.  Brandi has had no other health issues since.
