As a reputable breeder, our dogs have all health clearances by OFA and CERF. We are members in good standing with the GRCA. While a Heart, Hip, Elbows and Eye clearances are the "minimum" standard, we assure normal Thyroid as well through the use of our stud (Duke) or a litter from our bitch (Annie).
Our goal is to provide each owner of a puppy through an AwreyGold breeding the confidence that the best assurance to a healthy puppy with historical genetic health clearances (multiple generations) is achieved. We welcome visitations and socializing with your puppy after 3 weeks of age.
While genetics play a key and vital role, we also believe proper nutrition is essential. Overfeeding and excessive growth as a puppy shows links to health problems later on for the dog. As with humans, too many preservatives, diets too high in fats & carbohydrates, stress, chemicals, toxins, etc. lead to health issues such as diabetes and cancer. We have worked with natural foods (Holistic type) and added natural enzymes of raw foods to the dogs diets. (Solid Gold and Honest Kitchen).
Prospective buyers are to complete our 'Puppy Buyer Questionnaire' and will also recieve our "Adoption & Guarantee information'. These documents are available via fax or e-mail requests.
Puppies are well socialized, introduced to water, birds, unusual noises in a warm loving home environment where early paper training for house breaking is introduced. (We actually keep the litter in the home during their 8 weeks prior to leaving for their new homes. Introduction to birds (wings) in games of pursuit assure the natural Golden instincts of hunt/field work. Dew claws are removed, as well as the 1st series of shots, deworming & microchipping.
A packet complete with a CD of pictures showing the pups from birth, growth/weight charts, copies of health certificates, information on parents/grandparents health certificates, etc. are sent with each pup to it's new home with assessment evaluations and litter observations.

Duke and Annie are products of 2 prior breedings of which we chose one from each litter.
They demonstrate our committment as breeders and owners of quality Golden Retrievers which are working goldens as well as family members.
We do not overbreed our females, which are limited to 2 litters. Duke is available to qualified females as a stud dog. Frozen semen is available.
