Awrey Gold began in 1999 committed to breeding proven hunting Golden Retrievers with sound health and temperament. (Awrey is Kent's family last name which was lost a few generations ago.) This journey has allowed us to help educate and train other Golden Retriever owners for them to be successful in the field/hunt arena also as Field Director with our local Golden Retriever club.

 

     We are dedicated breeders in the Northwest who through selective breeding practice with other quality proven hunting Golden Retrievers produce Golden Retrievers that exemplify the qualities and standards as described by AKC and the GRCA.

 

     We are committed and dedicated to the integrity and foundations of the breed. Our dogs have all OFA clearances (hips, hearts, elbows and thyroid), CERF clearance in addition to PRA/PRCD cleared(normal). 

     We are responsible breeders and owners of Golden Retrievers. We love our dogs and devote ourselves to assure their health and quality of life. We are active in both the AKC Hunt test programs, GRCA Field events and NAHRA Field Test programs. Kent has hunted with both Brandi and Duke. 

     Since 1999 we have worked to encourage other Golden Retriever owners to explore the Hunt/Field programs in helping to maintain the natural abilities that are the essential foundations to the Golden Retriever.

 

     Kent has been an inspiration to many in his committment to the breed in the Hunt/Field programs. What began as a simple interest in seeing what a retriever can do has developed into a vision and committment to the betterment of the future of the Golden Retriever. Debbie, after spending countless times as Duke's 'photograhper', became active in training in 2005 with Annie.  Currently Debbie is training Cori through all aspects of the hunting/field program under the guidance of Dan Hosford and Tom & Katie Quarles.

     This journey has led to both of us participating in the training of dogs as well as Kent being anAKC Junior & Senior Hunt Test Judge and NAHRA Test Judge for all levels.

 

     Together we work to raise sound litters with countless hours of socialization and monitoring. We are excited for the future and future Golden Retriever owners who, like us, want a sound quality Golden that can be found faithful in the field and home.

     We enjoy the fellowship of other retriever enthusiasts in watching these natural athletes perform.   Additionally there are opportunities with others for training groups to watch, learn and grow.
